When I built Diosa, it was very important to me to have an in-house hair and makeup team because I wanted every part of the experience to feel consistent, personal, and intentional. I didn’t want clients working with a different artist every time or someone who wasn’t familiar with how we photograph women.
I also wanted to be available throughout the process to make adjustments as needed and to be able to communicate directly with my team if I felt something with the hair or makeup needed to be changed before we started shooting. Because we all work together in the same space, those little adjustments can happen immediately.
Our team understands our lighting, our style, and how makeup translates on camera, but just as importantly, they understand how to help women feel comfortable before they ever step in front of the lens.

What Should You Wear to a Boudoir Photo Shoot?
Lingerie can be beautiful, but it is far from your only option.
Bodysuits, fitted tanks, button-down shirts, oversized sweaters, structured bras, high-waisted sets, stockings, robes, simple underwear, a favorite T-shirt, and even a sheet can all photograph beautifully.
Fit matters more than the number on the tag.
A piece that rolls, gaps, pinches, or needs constant adjustment will probably distract you during your session. Very loose pieces can sometimes make posing harder, too.
Wardrobe guidance should begin before your session, not after you arrive. A professional boudoir studio should help you understand what photographs well and how to choose pieces that fit your style.
Does a Private Studio Matter When Choosing a Boudoir Photographer?
It absolutely can. Privacy is one of the most important things to consider when choosing a boudoir photographer, especially for an experience this personal.
Ask where your session will take place. Is the studio private? Is it shared with other photographers or businesses? Who will be present?
Sarah and I have traveled the country photographing women for more than 14 years. We have worked in hotels, Airbnbs, and temporary shooting spaces all over the country, and those experiences taught me exactly what I wanted when it was time to build Diosa.
I didn’t want women wondering where they were going, what the space would look like, who might be around, or whether they would feel comfortable once they arrived. I wanted a permanent space where women knew exactly where they were coming, what to expect, and most importantly, that they were safe here.
Diosa Boudoir is a private, all-female boudoir studio located in Albuquerque’s Sawmill District. Every detail of the studio was intentionally designed around the client experience from the layout and private changing areas to the sets, lighting, temperature, music, and overall flow of the session.
Because the studio is ours, we control the environment from beginning to end. You are not being photographed in a rotating rental studio, hotel room, or Airbnb with strangers walking through the space or other guests nearby.
After photographing thousands of women in so many different environments, creating a private, permanent studio felt incredibly important to me. I wanted Diosa to feel beautiful and luxurious, but more than anything, I wanted it to feel comfortable, familiar, and safe from the moment you walk through the door.
Expect to Be Posed From Head to Toe
“What if I’m awkward?” might be the most common question we hear.
Being awkward is allowed. You are not responsible for coming up with poses. That is our job.
During a fully guided session, your photographer should explain or demonstrate what to do, then make small adjustments while photographing you.
Boudoir posing can also be surprisingly physical. You may arch, stretch, point your toes, hold a pose for several seconds, or move between the floor, bed, and chair. That is why we encourage clients to eat before their session, hydrate, and treat the shoot a little like a light workout.
A skilled boudoir photographer knows how to create flattering lines without expecting you to suck in your stomach, hold your breath, or somehow become a model overnight.
Retouching Should Still Look Like You
Editing styles vary tremendously between photographers.
Professional retouching can refine skin, soften temporary blemishes, clean up distractions, and polish an image. But there is a difference between retouching and changing someone until she no longer recognizes herself.

What Happens After Your Boudoir Session?

Ask when you will see your photographs, how you select your favorites, what your session fee includes, and how albums, prints, wall art, or digital images are purchased.
At Diosa Boudoir, clients have a private ordering appointment after their photographs have been prepared. During that appointment, you see your images, choose your favorites, and select the artwork or collection that is right for you.
Many women choose a handcrafted album because there is something completely different about seeing these photographs printed and preserved rather than leaving them buried in a phone. Others choose digital images, prints, wall art, or a combination.
The key is understanding the process before you book. A professional studio should be transparent about what is included with the session and how image and product purchases work.
Ask about the client closet and how it is used?
Some boudoir studios provide all of the lingerie for your session. At Diosa, we prefer a more personal approach.
We ask clients to bring 3–4 lingerie pieces they already love and feel beautiful in, then use our client closet to accessorize and elevate those looks with robes, heels, wings, jewelry, and other styling pieces.
We also offer a large selection of brand-new lingerie, with one piece available per client. If you wear it, you take it home. We do not wash and reuse lingerie between clients. Lingerie is personal, and for sanitary reasons, once it has been worn, it belongs to you.
